Being proactive is accepting that we are in charge. We choose the scripts by which to live our lives. Use this self-awareness to be proactive and take responsibility for your choices. In order to be proactive, we must work on the things that we can change.
If we start with a clear destination in mind, we can feel more confident that the goals that we are working towards are for a purpose and are taking us in the right direction. Self-awareness empowers us to shape our own lives, instead of living our lives by default or based on the standards or preferences of others.
Prioritising our day-to-day actions based on what is most important rather than what is most urgent. Sticking to the moment-by-moment actions will culminate in bigger steps towards our end goal. Having the discipline to do the job, even if you really don’t want to will result in greater outcomes.
If we focus on achieving outcomes that benefit all parties involved, we have created a win-win. Supporting the success of others as we well as ourselves develops interdependent relationships. To be successful with a win, you have to be courageous and considerate.
Before we can offer advice, suggest solutions, or effectively interact with another person in any way, we must seek to deeply understand them and their perspective through empathic listening. Listening to understand develops trust and a sense of openness..
Synergy allows us to create new alternatives and open new possibilities. It allows us as a group to collectively agree to ditch the old scripts and write new ones. Understanding and valuing differences encourages creativity, trust and safety.
To be effective, we must devote the time to renewing ourselves physically, spiritually, mentally, and socially. Looking after all aspects of our wellbeing will give us the strength to develop personally and the energy to empower others along the way.
