Our Key Stage 4 programme, Futures@CRC, offers a curriculum designed to ensure our students successfully transition to post-16 education. Our course gives students the opportunity to work towards the following goals:
Functional Skills qualifications in English and Maths
Qualifications in Personal Development, Art, Sport, and Fitness.
Vocational sessions in areas such as Hair and Beauty, Construction, Catering and Hospitality.
Students can access our programme at our Cambridge and Huntingdon Campus. We are confident that our curriculum will support students’ progress and success.
Upon successful completion of Year 10, students can progress to Year 11, gaining additional qualifications that will enhance their studies at school and readiness for further study at college. Essential skills will be integrated into all subjects. The ultimate intent of our programme is to prepare our students for post-16 progression, whether that is college, an apprenticeship, or employment with training. To support this, careers guidance is provided during tutorials, and further Information, Advice and Guidance sessions are conducted by the careers team. In addition to this students have the opportunity to explore different curriculum areas through vocational sessions.
The well-being of our students is one of our top priorities. We collaborate closely with our welfare team and external agencies to offer extra support, helping learners to achieve their full potential. One-on-one support can be arranged for students, along with online study sessions.
To enrol on the Futures Programme, your child’s school will need to make the referral- a parent/guardian cannot apply directly unless the child is Elective Home Educated. Please see the section below for how to apply if your child is EHE.
Confirmation: Await confirmation of acceptance into the programme from the school.
Application Form: Complete an application form, which can be obtained by contacting the Head of Alternative Learning Provision.
Interview or Assessment: Attend an interview or assessment session, if required, to discuss their interests and suitability for the programme.
Documentation: Submit necessary documentation, such as previous school records, identification, and any other required paperwork.
We do not offer GCSEs as a standalone qualification on the programme, but students will be supported if they are being entered by their school for GCSEs.
The vocational lesson is one element of the programme and students are not able to just choose to study the vocational subject.
The program runs three days a week, and a customised schedule can be arranged with the referring school – based on the student’s needs.
Any child will be assessed individually as to whether the Provision can meet the support needs.
We are primarily a school referral provision however we do allocate a small number of places each year to EHE students. Places fill up very quickly so please be advised that unless you have received confirmation of a place, alternative arrangements for your child’s education may need to be made. Your child must be registered with the Local Authority as home educated and not registered at any school to apply.
We understand that the last few years in mainstream education may have been challenging for some students. For others, the pressure of choosing a course to study after finishing school can be overwhelming, and they may need more time to find the right path.
Our 16-19 META Programme is a one-year, flexible course designed to help students work towards qualifications in Maths and English (if needed) and achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Vocational Studies. As part of our Alternative Learning Provision, this programme provides the necessary support and flexibility for students to explore their options and make informed decisions about their future.
