At Cambridge Regional College, this course is the traditional production route for students who want to create film/TV-style work, work on a live radio station, develop strong craft, and build a portfolio suited to university, apprenticeships, and professional production environments.
This is production-led media: camera, lighting, sound, editing, directing, storytelling and visual style, with structured workflows and professional expectations.
You’ll learn how professional media is developed from idea to final export: research, scripting, planning, pre-production, filming, sound, editing, and evaluation. You’ll work in production roles, collaborate in teams, and refine your work so it holds up on a showreel.
· Industry-style projects – real briefs, deadlines, roles, feedback and refinement
· Learn from experienced practitioners – tutors with real production backgrounds
· Professional kit and workflows – cameras, lighting, sound equipment, editing and studio processes
· A broad but credible skillset – film/TV production, photography, radio/audio, and online distribution
· Portfolio-first outcomes – showreels, photo sets, audio work, and production evidence that supports progression
· Exceptional progression – strong routes into film/TV, photography, audio, journalism, creative production, apprenticeships and higher education
· Film & TV production: camera, lighting, sound, directing, editing and production roles
· Photography: shoot planning, composition, lighting, editing and presentation
· Radio & podcasting: recording, voice, scripting, audio editing and publishing
· Online media (as distribution): packaging your work professionally for audiences
· Professional practice: teamwork, time management, client expectations, rights and permissions
You’ll be building towards progression into areas like film/TV production, photography, audio production, journalism, content production roles, creative degrees and apprenticeships.
