We are pleased to announce a new series of green technology courses aimed at the motor vehicle and electrical / engineering sectors.
By 2030, the sale of petrol and diesel cars will be illegal. All major car manufacturers have responded by adding electrical cars to their portfolio of products. As a result, the UK is already seeing a rise in sales of electric cars. By 2030, the automobile industry is expecting use of electric cars to rise from around 500,000 to 11 million.
As more electric vehicles are sold, there will be a greater need for the skills required to service electric cars and install charging points. The Institute of the Motor Industry have raised concerns that currently only 6.5% of vehicle repair technicians have the required training in electrical vehicle technology.
We will support the development of green skills for the local labour market through training in safety, maintenance, repair and replacement of electric and hybrid vehicles. This will allow garages within the region to be responsive to the increasing number of electric vehicles.
We will provide training and upskilling opportunities for all levels of experience in vehicle servicing ensuring that there is an entry point and progression regardless of prior knowledge.
We will provide bespoke practical training for the installation and certification of EV charging equipment aligned to the City & Guilds requirement, plus the maintenance and repair of EV equipment which currently no other training provider currently offers.
