There are still lots of opportunities to get involved in College life outside of the scheduled enrichment slot. The College offers opportunities for students who are interested in starting their own clubs or societies to do so with the support of College staff. Each club or society may receive a small `start up grant. If students are interested in starting a Club or Society or finding out about ones that are already happening, then visit the The Hub at either Campus or download the information from The Hub Online.
The CRC Student Ambassador Scheme provides students with a wide range of opportunities to develop their skills and demonstrate the College values by acting as an Ambassador for the College. Activities include supporting at College open events, attending learner voice meetings, supporting with staff interviews, speaking at locals schools, promoting the College to prospective students and writing student blogs for the College website.
Student Ambassador opportunities are advertised weekly in TMail and training is provided when required. There are also Ambassador of the Month and Year Awards up for grabs too.
The college offers something for everyone in its Get Active Programme, whether you love competitive sport or prefer to take a more gentle approach to fitness. There are free classes in a variety of activities, and the college runs competitive teams in a number of sports. The college’s sports centre and gym are free to use for students – there is just a £20 induction fee payable for the gym at Cambridge Campus– and outdoor table tennis tables are available around both campuses. A new outdoor fitness trail has also been installed.
The popular Annual Race For Life in May is a way for students and staff to raise money for Cancer Research at each campus.
This Girl Can, funded by The National Lottery, believes that there’s no right way to get active – if it gets your heart rate up it counts. The college currently has two this Girl Can Ambassadors. If you are interested in getting involved visit the Hub either sites. Each year, The College hosts a This Girl Can Festival for AoC Sport where students have access to additional activities.
Enrichment doesn’t have to be just outside of classroom. During your time at CRC you will have multiple opportunities to gain nationally recognised accreditations and qualifications that compliment or enhance your main course of study. Current qualifications include Young Leadership Qualifications and Coaching Certificates.
