Remember: you are never alone. Thousands of Year 11 students go through this process every year with GCSE results, yet this doesn’t mean any two experiences are the same. From last minute decisions to unexpected results, somebody will be supporting you each step of the way.
Let’s look at our options.
At CRC we have a Team of excellent Career Advisors. With years of experience, useful contact and all the necessary knowledge; they are keen to help you make your dream a reality.
They will be able to advise you on study options; if you are best suited for an apprenticeship where you will learn on the job. Or if there is a course at CRC that will be a great next step to your chosen career. Whatever route you wish to take, they can help you get there!
But where can you access their advice? Our Careers Advisors will be welcoming you to CRC during the Summer at their annual Advice Cafés. These will take place between 25th August until 2nd September; between 9am and 4:30pm. Here, you will receive advice on the study options available, courses that align with your results and future career; as well as travel and bursary information. You can find out more details at https://www.camre.ac.uk/apply-enrol/results-day-advice-cafes/ .
When you attend your Results Day, many of your teachers and Support Staff will be on hand to congratulate you. This is a perfect opportunity for you to ask for their advice.
Since they have worked so closely with you for a long time, they will have a good understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, which will help you make an informed decision on what your best option would be.
Be sure to take advantage of the advice given by the people who know you best.
After guiding you through this process and seeing first-hand how you have managed the workload of GCSES, they will have a good insight into what would be your best study option. It is important to be honest with family and friends, so they can understand what you wish to achieve from this next step. By knowing what career, you wish to pursue, you will be able to research the possible routes. Narrowing your options makes the decision less overwhelming.
Online forums, discussion groups and blogs (like this one!) are really useful when you are struggling with your decision.
They can give advice from the perspective of somebody who has previously been in your predicament – or offer comfort as somebody who has a great understanding of your situation! All the information available can be used to assist your decision making.
But remember, this is your decision, so never feel pressured into doing something that you don’t feel passionate about. The best results are achieved by students who enjoy their course and feel comfortable at their place of study. Therefore, it is never too late to change your mind. At CRC, we offer late enrolment college spaces for those who feel as though they made the wrong decision so even after you make your choice, you still have options if your plans change. We want all our students to love what they do! So we will try our hardest to get you into a place where you feel you can reach your full potential.
