Cambridge Regional College Celebrates 20 Years of Norwegian Partnership 

Cambridge Regional College (CRC) proudly celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Norwegian Link Programme with a special anniversary event held at The Park restaurant at it’s Cambridge campus, bringing together students, staff and international partners to mark two decades of collaboration. 

Hosted by the CRC International Team, the event welcomed Norwegian students currently studying at the College, alongside visiting representatives and headteachers from partner schools Tromsdalen videregående skole in Tromsø and Ulsrud videregående skole in Oslo. Staff from across the College also attended to recognise the success and longevity of the programme. 

The Norwegian Link Programme is a six‑month international study experience, enabling students from Norway to continue their national curriculum in English while living and studying in the UK at CRC. Since the programme began in 2006, more than 1,000 Norwegian students have taken part, developing their academic skills, improving their English language ability and experiencing life in Cambridge.  

During the celebration, students were presented with certificates marking the completion of their studies and received special commemorative items recognising their place in the programme’s 20th cohort. The event also featured speeches from partner school leaders, a student presentation reflecting on their time in Cambridge, and a musical performance by the students. 

Speaking about the programme, Jonathan Ingham, Head of Department for International at CRC, said: 

“Over the past 20 years, the Norwegian Link Programme has become an incredibly important part of our international community. It provides students with a unique opportunity to continue their studies while immersing themselves in a new culture and language. Seeing so many students grow in confidence, independence and global awareness during their time here is incredibly rewarding.” 

Representatives from the partner schools also shared their appreciation for the long‑standing relationship with CRC and the opportunities it provides for Norwegian students each year: 

“The partnership with Cambridge Regional College has opened doors for our students that extend far beyond the classroom. It has broadened horizons and created lifelong connections,” said Elin Isaksen, Ass. Rektor, Tromsdalen videregående skole 

“We are proud of every student who has taken part in this programme and grateful for the support from CRC. This collaboration has enriched our school community and continues to inspire young people to pursue their goals with confidence,” said David Dunlop, Principal at Ulsrud videregående skole. 

Beyond their studies, students on the programme experience life in the UK through cultural trips and activities, exploring cities such as London and Edinburgh and building lasting friendships along the way.  

The ceremony concluded with a group photo of all attendees, a fitting way to capture the moment and celebrate the continued success of a partnership that has welcomed generations of Norwegian students to Cambridge.
