Chloe Thrower might spend most of her days in the skies working as a Cabin Manager, but her experience was very much grounded here at Cambridge Regional College.
Studying Level 3 Travel & Tourism and graduating in 2021, Chloe was immersed throughout in a wide variety of topic areas – including hotels and hospitality, events, conferences and exhibitions, alongside business functions in travel such as marketing.
She also undertook some hands-on practical work, including learning about the work check-in and gate agents do and, of course, cabin crew. Speaking of the course, Chloe said: “I think practicals are a fantastic way to learn as it’s enabling you to role play scenarios and understand what it could be like working in that certain area of the industry, and it also really helps you to gain confidence.”

Chloe described her tutors as being “inspiring,” adding: “They always showed their passion for the Travel and Tourism industry, and you could really see that through their teaching and how they treated you as an individual.
“They always supported and took time to help you through written and practical work to make sure you achieved your best.”
Chloe’s confidence skyrocketed during her time at CRC, enabling her to grow. “I think the biggest thing I learnt about myself is how much confidence I really have and how much I can achieve when I have really put my mind into something I have so much passion for,” she said.
“I think stepping out of my comfort zone has really enabled me to go on to achieving anything now.”
Since leaving CRC, Chloe followed her passions and right away joined the aviation industry, securing a role as cabin crew for one of Europe’s biggest low-cost carriers in 2021.
From there, she joined a different low-cost carrier based out of London’s second-busiest airport and has worked her way up to cabin manager and crew training positions. She has aspirations of moving into long-haul cabin crew.
She offered her wisdom to the next generation: “You can achieve so much when you put your mind to something and highly have a passion for the industry.”
