The Construction and Motor Vehicle department are keen to promote environmental and sustainability opportunities whenever possible. Their latest project has seen the Construction team design and build a garden using only recycled materials on a small area of unused land just outside K block.
Stage 1 – Bricklaying
Bricklaying learners have been gaining hands on experience, building a wall for the garden. They have worked on this whilst in College, with some students coming in on their days off to see the project through. The students worked well as a team to complete the wall, enabling stage 2 of the project to start.
Stage 2 – Carpentry
A wooden planter has been designed and is now in construction in the workshops. The planter will sit in front of the wall and will be filled with seasonal bulbs that have been donated by Scotsdales.
Stage 3 – Coming soon
Cassandra Webb said, “We have more exciting plans for this garden, and these will be revealed over the coming weeks. In the meantime, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their support in getting the learners to this stage.”
“Look out for our next project, which will be delivered by Motor Vehicle students!”
