CRC International immersion programme supports learners from Mexico

International immersion programme partners, University Technical Durango (UTD) is a not-for-profit higher education institution located in the Victoria of Durango, Northern Mexico.
The Technical University has helped thousands of students achieve career success in business and technology and, as part of their curriculum, the students are required to achieve level B2 in English to complete their studies.
Each year, UTD works with Cambridge Regional College to facilitate an international immersion programme at the Cambridge Campus. Earlier this year, 15 students studying Business, Finance, Leadership, and Engineering, arrived in Cambridge to follow a three-week English course combined with Business and Leadership studies with the International team at CRC.
In addition to immersing themselves in the CRC English programme, the group enjoyed visits to the Bank of England and attended a seminar at the London Stock Exchange in support of their business studies.
The international immersion program was a real success with students enjoying their learning experience at CRC in addition to exploring Cambridge with one student commenting, ‘We have learned a lot in three weeks studying topics that we haven’t explored in the past. It was a great experience!’
International Officer, Virginia Vasconez said, ‘We really enjoyed having our Durango guests with us for three weeks. They mixed really well with our ESOL and international students in their English classes and collaborated with our Access to Business students, to the advantage of both groups. The students produced some really interesting presentations in their Business classes and it was clear they had benefitted from the experience both in terms of their English and in terms of their understanding of their specialist subject. We look forward to working with another group in the future.’
