We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with her family at this saddest of times, and with King Charles III as he takes up his historic role at such a time of personal loss.
Thank you to the whole college community for the respect that has been shown to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Bank Holiday for Her Majesty’s State Funeral
It has now been confirmed that the state funeral will take place on Monday 19th September and that this will be a national bank holiday. The Department for Education has confirmed that the College will close on this day and we do not intend to set work for students to complete.
Normal college attendance is expected throughout the national mourning period, other than the bank holiday.
The College has a book of condolence at each campus, will be covering a tribute to Her Majesty in TMail, will be organising a number of other activities to enable students to reflect and pay their respects, and flags will fly at half-mast.
Her Majesty’s funeral will be a significant historical event, the likes of which have not been seen for many decades. We would encourage students to watch the events unfold, both as a mark of respect and as a significant event in the life of our country.
