On the evening of Thursday, 9th February, the Gonville Hotel was abuzz with excitement as the Cambridge Regional College (CRC) Apprentice Takeover event unfolded. The celebration was part of the National Apprenticeship Week 2023 festivities and drew a crowd of notable local figures and business leaders, including the esteemed Mayor of Cambridge, Cllr Mark Ashton.
The commis apprentices had worked closely with Head Chef Jamie De Cruz to craft a delectable 5-course menu that all guests could relish, which showcased the skills they had acquired during their apprenticeship. The front-of-house apprentices had also played a pivotal role in ensuring that all dishes and drinks were served impeccably, working closely with Robert Ogrodmik, the restaurant manager.
Amid the evening’s activities was a raffle held in aid of the NSPCC, which offered fantastic prizes, such as a two-day stay at the luxurious Gonville Hotel and a scrumptious three-course meal for four at CRC’s very own Seasons Restaurant.
The night was brought to life by Chris Mann of BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, who did an exceptional job as the event MC and helped oversee the entire proceedings. The triumph of the evening was a true testament to the exceptional apprenticeship programs offered by Cambridge Regional College and the skills and knowledge that the apprentices had gained through their training.
