The event was attended by by key employers and stakeholders across the sport and physical activity sector

Daryl Emes, Partnership Manager, GLL and Chair of the LSAB, commented: “As an employer in the Cambridgeshire area it is vital that we have good links with further education and training providers to bring in the qualified and skilled staff we need. The Local Skills Advisory Board brings all these partners together to create stronger pathways for employment and to ensure the necessary skills needed in our industry are met by colleges and other training providers, and better prepare our workforces to have all the necessary skills to forge a career in the leisure industry. Our work with CIMSPA and Cambridge Regional College is absolutely key to making this a reality”

Dan Burns, Assistant Principal (Adults & Apprenticeships), Cambridge Regional College and Vice Chair of the LSAB added: “At CRC we pride ourselves on meeting the skills needs of the communities we serve and in ensuring that our technical and professional education and training offer meets the needs of local employers, enabling our students to secure great career opportunities. A key part of this work involves building and maintaining close relationships with employers to allow us to understand the key knowledge, skills and behaviour needs for working in the sector and making a positive impact. Supporting, engaging in and championing skills boards such as the LSAB is valuable to us as a training provider as it allows us to listen directly to employer and sector needs, develop our curriculum to ensure students learn what is needed in employment, identify opportunities to collaborate to enhance student experiences and opportunities, and promote our fantastic training offer that can help in meeting skills gaps and workforce need.”
