Congratulations to CRC students Elisha Collinson, Daisy Rogers and Megan Prince who were awarded two prizes in the final of the culinary competition A Passion to Inspire held on 23rd April at the Colchester Institute.

A Passion to Inspire is a competition that allows students to work with industry experts and develop their skills in a competitive environment. There were five colleges involved: CRC, City College Norwich, Colchester Institute, Suffolk New College, and West Suffolk College. The overall winner was Suffolk New College.

Our kitchen team comprised learners Daisy Rogers and Elisha Collinson, and our Front of House was Megan Prince. The students developed a three-course menu and paired the dishes with two wines and a cocktail.

Congratulations to our learners who received prizes for Best Food and Wine Pairing and Best Management of Waste and 360 Degree Use of Ingredients.

Jack Nicholson, Front of House – Operations Manager, The Park Restaurant, CRC, said: “The standard of the competition was high, and the team just missed out on the overall prize. We are incredibly proud of all the CRC students who took part in the heat and the final. They are all looking forward to trying to win next year!

A Passion to Inspire, founded by Murray Chapman, is a non-profit making, voluntary initiative, initially developed to bring education and industry closer together – to help and support ‘the future of tomorrow today.’
