Apprenticeships teach-in for parents

Parents went back to school to learn more about apprenticeships at a special open evening at Cambridge Regional College.

The event, attended by nearly 200 people, focused on everything from how to find an apprenticeship to how far apprentices can progress once they’re qualified.

The information session included a presentation by CRC apprenticeship specialists, with plenty of experts on hand to offer advice on apprenticeship careers in industries from catering to engineering.

The college, one of the UK’s top 20 apprenticeship providers, works with over 1,500 employers to train apprentices in key trades – with nearly 4,500 currently in training.

Debbie McArthur, from CRC’s apprenticeship team, said it had been a very busy evening.

“Parents had lots of questions and were obviously very interested in apprenticeships. Our aim was to provide the information they wanted to help their sons and daughters decide on their future,” she said.

“It was a very busy, successful evening and it was excellent to see how positive parents are about apprenticeships.”
