If you are progressing from the Level 1 course in Hairdressing and Beauty or looking to start a career in Hairdressing this is the course for you. Upon completion of the Level 2 in hairdressing you will be required to progress to the Level 3 in Hairdressing before you will be a fully qualified Hairdresser.

Shampooing and Conditioning the hair and scalp
Cutting and finishing Women's and Men's Hair
Setting and Blow-drying using a range of techniques
Curling and Straightening techniques
Dressing Hair using plaiting and twisting techniques
You will have the opportunity to enter competitions, listen to guest speakers and join trips to hair and beauty exhibitions.
You will be encouraged to study and further develop your English and Maths to assist in your career and personal development.
Your interview and the college Welcome events, will give us the opportunity to get to know you better and ensure you have a clear understanding of the career path and course and ensure that you enrol on the right level to suit your needs.
If successful in gaining a place you will be required to attend Taster Days during the summer before the start of your course. You will also carry out a practical aptitude test.
Kit and Uniform - You will need to purchase a kit and uniform before the start of the programme, the Level 2 mandatory kit and uniform will cost around £450 subject to change slightly with inflation. There is also up to £100 of optional extra’s and further details will be given to you at the Welcome Event.
Work placement in the commercial environment is part of your course, which helps you to develop real life working skills and employability.
On this Level 2 programme you will also be required to take part in our Industry Placement Programme, which is set for 2 days in addition to your study programme from October until the end of June, totalling 315 hours. All students are assigned an Industry Placement Coordinator who will work with you and support you through your placement journey. All placements are unpaid and should be meaningful placements that are relevant to the students study programme
Upon successful completion and with outstanding commitment and attendance, this programme will enable you to progress onto: An Apprenticeship, in a salon as a Junior Stylist, and/or a Full Time or Part Time Level 3 Hairdressing Course. The industry provides a fascinating and rewarding career if you are a practical and creative individual and enjoy working with people. It is a fashion industry where creativity and artistry combine with technical skills to provide a service for clients. It is a demanding occupation that requires good health, stamina, a capacity for hard work, a pleasant personality and the ability to get on with people.
Entry onto this programme will require 3 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or above including English and Maths and a successful skills check showcasing previous Hair skills and knowledge to enable you to start on a Level 2 programme. Or successful completion of the Level 1 Hairdressing Diploma Your acceptance on the course will be based on a successful interview and assessment of your commitment and ability to meet the demands of the course and the expectations of employers in the industry. Individuals will be considered on their suitability and references showing good attendance and behaviour and a genuine interest in the industry. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

Once we have received your application, you will be invited to attend a Welcome Event. At the Welcome Event you will meet the tutors and get the chance to learn more about college and your course. You will also have a discussion with one of our tutors who will look to make you a formal offer for September.
