Looked After Children & Care Leavers

Support for Looked After Children and Care Leavers

If you are a Looked After Child or Care Leaver, we offer extra support to help you get your most out of your time at Cambridge Regional College.

What we offer:

  • Tailored support on a range of welfare, financial and education issues
  • Guidance via careers, visits to College and applications
  • Practical help with enrolling and settling into college life
  • Someone to talk to who understands your individual situation and needs
  • Support with reviews, planning for your progression and next steps into education or work

What you can expect from us

We have a team of experienced staff who will work with you – and where appropriate your carer / social worker and Virtual School – to help you right from when you apply so you will be supported as soon as you contact us.

Our team will work with you to identify ways they can assist you on a one-to-one basis, addressing any individual needs and concerns you may have.

On a need-to-know basis, certain staff will be made aware that you are, or have been, in Care but they will not be told any further details unless they are part of your immediate support team. This is so we can tailor the advice and guidance we offer you and allow you to maximise your opportunities while you are at college.

Cambridge Regional College offers financial assistance to Looked After Children and Care Leavers at school leaving age. Whether you’re thinking of coming to College, or you are already here, we will support you all we can.

“I just wanted to officially record our feedback on the provision and support you as a college have given to our young people … Firstly I would like to praise your team in the constant support and guidance you have given to all our students…. You have always made sure that every student is supported appropriately and offered additional support if and when required. I am confident of the provision at CRC.”
