English and Maths skills are an essential part of the modern professional’s toolkit. Employers consistently place English and Maths high on the list of skills they look for in potential employees. Universities often report that ability in English and Maths supports success in other subjects. Because our aim is to give you the best preparation for your chosen career, English and Maths will be essential elements of your programme at CRC.
“I’ve just picked up my results for my GCSE English and I’ve passed! I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your hard work.”
As a full-time student at college, you will develop your English and maths skills through your personalised learning plan. The development of these practical skills will be an essential part of your programme. In addition, if you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade A* to C or 9 to 4 in English and/or Maths, you will study for a recognised qualification appropriate to your level. If you have already achieved A* to C or 9 to 4, you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills through your specialist subject.
We recently became one of the first colleges in the country to offer the new Level 3 Core Maths qualification, designed for students who have already achieved A* to C or 9 to 4 in Mathematics but want to continue to build on their Maths skills. The two-year course will result in an AS-equivalent qualification and carry UCAS points. Students will learn about personal finance, estimation, statistics and much more. For more information about the qualification, visit the Core maths website http://www.core-maths.org/.
