About the Course

Supported Interns have two days placed with a suitable employer where they are taught carefully and systematically to do the job to a high standard.  Learners are fully supported to start and are gradually offered less support so they become more independent.  Travel training is also part of the offer.

The course starts with an intensive 6 week employability skills programme and a vocational profiling so that suitable employers can be considered for placements.

Progression

Young people will also get the chance to take a City & Guilds qualification in maths and English or a functional skills or GCSE depending on their ability and current qualifications on entry. For more details contact: Alison Goold – Head of Supported Learning Gareth Davies – EHCP Reviewing Manager

Entry Requirements

Young people need to have completed a Supported Learning programme or a programme at entry 1 through the college mainstream departments. Applicants that have not completed a suitable programme will require a reference that outlines their maturity and social confidence to work with our partner employers.
