This is a level 1 employability course that helps to develop young people's personal and social skills and resilience for working life. The part time version of the Options courses is designed for young people who have had difficulties with attendance due to mental health and anxiety in the past. It is designed to phase you into college life without the pressures of making every session.
A typical week will be two half sessions a week for term 1, 2 days for term 2 and 3 days for term 3. With some flexibility to move at your pace. The only criteria are that you have to commit to the sessions you have been given and give them your best. It will be a small supportive group with specialist staff but you have to be willing to help yourself and ready to take that all-important step into CRC.
Young people will follow an internally awarded qualification and have the chance to do English, maths lessons and employability sessions that help with confidence and social skills and further lessons that develop strategies for managing anxiety and stress.
The goal of the courses is to try and equip you with the skills and resilience you need to take on a full-time course in year 2 and either join our Full time Options group or move on a vocational pathway either within the Supported Learning department of within mainstream.
There are no formal entry requirements but students will need to able to work at E3/ Level 1.
The most important requirement is that you are ready to try and get back into learning.
We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.
