About the Programme

This Apprenticeship Standard is designed for engineers who are maintaining the safety, integrity and effective operation of plant and equipment in industries that are part of the national infrastructure engineering sector, such as electricity generating, oil and gas refining and pharmaceuticals.
It provides a basic grounding in engineering before focussing on the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work successfully as an engineer in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.

Progression

The successful completion of this course could lead to a supervisory role in engineering with a Level 4 Apprenticeship, an HNC/HND or a Degree in Engineering.

Entry Requirements

Suitable employment. GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics and 1 other subject or the equivalent.
Remember, an apprenticeship is a job so the hiring employer may have additional criteria that will have to be met alongside CRC’s entry criteria.

End Point Assessment

Apprentices will attend college on day-release for 1 or 2 days a week during term time for 3 years.  During this time, they will be visited in the workplace every 8 to 10 weeks where they will be guided through the work-based side of their programme.  The final 6 months are focussed on preparing the apprentice for End-Point Assessment which will determine the final outcome of the Apprenticeship.  This includes theory and practical tests.
