The Higher National Diploma course will allow students from all backgrounds to gain practical knowledge through a range of creative workshops in response to industry focused briefs. The course is suitable for students progressing from the Level 4 HNC here at CRC or transferring from another college/Level 4 equivalent course. It is specifically for students who require a faster and more direct route into the industry, as well as the more mature student who is looking to retrain within the creative arts.
During the course you will study units including: Professional Practice, Applied Practice Collaborative Project, Advanced Art Practice Studies, Conceptual Practice, Advanced Life Drawing, Material Selection and Specification.
After successful completion of this study programme you can progress onto one of our great feeder Universities joining the final year of the program, or enter employment in the related industry in which you have specialised in.
For students who have recently been in education, the entry requirements are for you to have at least one of the following:
? Level 4 Qualification in Art and Design
? Related work experience
? An international equivalent of the above.
Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
Your work will be continually assessed throughout the year with written assignments, presentations, practical experimentation and portfolios of work.
Students who currently attend a Cambridge Area Partnership school should apply through UCASprogress.com or by speaking to your tutor who can refer you to the course leader.
Alternatively, please add the course to your UCAS choices when applying through UCAS. If you need any help with applying, please contact our Admissions Office.
Once we have received your application, you will be invited to attend an interview, which gives you the opportunity to have a look around the college, talk to the tutors and ask any questions you may have.
