This qualification provides learners with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. It covers all aspects of specialist support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher; bilingual support; special needs support; and personal development and reflective practice.
To achieve the Diploma the learner must complete 16 mandatory units.
The Apprenticeship Standard consists of a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning and is based at the Huntingdon Campus.
On successful completion of this course you can progress to higher level teaching assistant courses, the Foundation Degree in Early Years, Playwork and Education or specialist roles within the workforce.
This qualification provides you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work in a variety of unsupervised job roles that support children and young people's learning in schools or colleges. Roles this qualification will prepare you for include:
• Teaching Assistant
• Learning Support Assistant
• Special Needs Assistant
GCSE English and maths grade 4 (grade C) or Functional Skills level 2. Learners must be in the correct job role to provide evidence for a portfolio.
We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at Cambridge Regional College. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.
You will be assessed by a vocationally competent assessor who will support and help you gather a portfolio of evidence, using a range of methods.
This programme is delivered on site at our Huntingdon campus to support the underpinning knowledge of the qualification. All resources will be available on our virtual learning environment (VLE) system and we use an electronic portfolio system called Smart Assessor.
