The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Media Make-up Artistry provides you with specialist practical skills and knowledge which will equip you to seek employment or progression within the Theatrical and Media Make-up Industry. Either a Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up or equivalent industry experience is a recommended entry requirement. 

About the Course

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Theatrical and Media Make-up provides you with specialist practical skills and knowledge which will equip you to seek employment or progression within the makeup artistry within Film, TV, theatre and media makeup.

This qualification is suitable for anyone over the age of 16. A well-groomed and professional appearance is essential as you will be working with the public and need to present a professional image. Great importance is also placed on reliability requiring regular attendance and punctuality. You will be advised of any materials you will need to purchase for your course when you attend the Welcome Event/Progression interview. This qualification covers a very wide range of practical skills and knowledge required for working in the within Film, TV, theatre and media makeup industry.
The programme opens up career opportunities as a hair and makeup artist either working in fashion, television or other media areas, usually working freelance.  There are also opportunities available for progression onto Higher Education and further study either at HNC, HND or degree level, depending on prior experience and qualifications.

Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the necessary advanced technical skills to be employed as a trainee Make-up Artist working in film TV and/or theatre.
This qualification could lead to a career in the following areas:
Theatre make-up artist
Make-up artist or Film and/or TV
Trainee Makeup artist/wig specialist in film/TV or theatre
Make-up designer

There will be optional extra-curricular activities at an additional cost. These may include visits to course appropriate venues, professional workshops and residential visits.
A comprehensive kit of essential equipment, specifically created for this course will be available to purchase at a discount through the college It is essential this is obtained before the start of the programme.

Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the necessary advanced technical skills to be employed as a Make-up Artist working in film and/or theatre. Entry Requirements

You will need to be over 16 and have a full Level 2 Media Make up qualification, a good reference and a successful interview.  Each candidate will be considered on their experience, suitability and previous course references showing good attendance and behaviour and a genuine interest in the make-up industry. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview. As with all our programmes, this course includes tutorial sessions and individual reviews, giving you individual time with your personal tutor. You may also be required to study and achieve further qualifications in English and Maths if you have not already attained a satisfactory grade in these subjects

Once we have received your application, you will be invited to attend a Welcome Event. At the Welcome Event you will meet the tutors and get the chance to learn more about college and your course. You will also have a discussion with one of our tutors who will look to make you a formal offer for September
