The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Media Make-up Artistry provides you with specialist practical skills and knowledge which will equip you to seek employment or progression within the Theatrical and Media Make-up Industry. 

The programme opens up career opportunities as a hair and makeup artist either working in fashion, television or other media areas, usually working freelance.  There are also opportunities available for progression onto Higher Education and further study either at HND or degree level, depending on prior experience and qualifications.  

About the Course

Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Make-up Techniques
provides you with specialist practical skills and knowledge which will equip you to seek employment or progression within the Fashion editorial, bridal and/or seeking work as a self-employed makeup artist working across a range of different events.

This qualification is suitable for anyone over the age of 16. A well-groomed and professional appearance is essential as you will be working with the public and need to present a professional image. Great importance is also placed on reliability requiring regular attendance and punctuality. You will be advised of any materials you will need to purchase for your course when you attend the Welcome Event/Progression interview. This qualification covers a very wide range of practical skills and knowledge required for working in the theatrical and media make-up artistry industry.

The programme opens up career opportunities as a hair and makeup artist either working in fashion, television or other media areas, usually working freelance.  There are also opportunities available for progression onto Higher Education and further study either at HNC, HND or degree level, depending on prior experience and qualifications.

Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the necessary advanced technical skills to be employed as a Make-up Artist working in film and/or theatre.

This qualification could lead to a career in the following areas:

Make-up artist for fashion, editorial, or advertising
Make-up designer
Bridal Hair and makeup artist.

There will be optional extra-curricular activities at an additional cost. These may include visits to course appropriate venues, professional workshops and residential visits.

Entry Requirements

This Course is suitable for anybody over the age of 16. You will need a full Level 2 Media Make up qualification, a college reference and a successful interview.  Each candidate will be considered on their experience, suitability and previous course references showing good attendance and behaviour and a genuine interest in the make-up industry. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview. Through the Welcome Event you will get the chance to learn more about college and your course. When you have your conditional offer, you will be invited and required to attend new student Taster Days during the summer before the start of your course.
