The Study Programme is taught and delivered as project-based assignments, covering the fundamentals of the creative media application of contemporary journalistic skills. It will also help you get together a great portfolio of work, in preparation for University, apprenticeship and job applications.
Projects you will complete are set in creative industry contexts and include live assignments, where you have the opportunity to develop stories and campaigns for real life partners and clients. You will also be given the opportunity to collaborate with other creative media practitioners within the CRC community and the wider creative media industries.
You will gain a broad knowledge of skills needed to work in traditional and online media. You will discover what makes a story, develop skills in digital content, television, radio and interactive media, all while practicing in our TV and radio studios.
You will have the opportunity to develop your creative filmmaking skills. Exploring specialist skills in scriptwriting, pre-production planning, cinematography and lighting, Post-production and editing, sound production and film studies.

Successful completion of the Year One qualification can lead to entry for the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma Year 2. Through one-to one tutorials, workshops, and Independent Learning, learners will be expected to research, plan and produce projects tailored to their chosen pathway, which will lead to the end-of-year FMP.
This qualification helps you to progress on to: • BA/BSc/FdA at a Higher Education institution • Apprenticeships within the wider commercial/creative based industries and supported through Cambridge Regional College • Employment e.g. production assistant, runner, junior researcher, broadcast assistant, broadcast journalist
• You will need 4 GCSEs at grades 9 - 4 (A* - C), or Level 2 UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production at a Pass, Level 2 BTEC Certificate/Extended Certificate or First Diploma in Creative Media – Pass level. • GCSE English language grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) is essential and GCSE Maths grades 9 - 4 (A* - C) is highly desirable. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
A range of methods, which may include projects, assignments, case studies, course work, self-assessment, feedback from clients and panel reviews, continually assesses course work. Grades from Pass, Merit, Distinction may be awarded to course work. The Study Programmes are over 5 days each week. There is regular one to one tutorial provision.
