This one-year full-time study programme is geared towards those wishing to progress in the beauty and spa industry. The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to undertake advanced treatments, increasing your employability in the sector. Your studies will be a combination of theory and practical study through a variety of units that take a closer look at anatomy, client care, retail, and communication. The practical elements of the course will see you working on your peers and fee-paying clients in the College salons.

 

About the Course

Wanting to advance within the beauty and spa industry?

This level 3 qualification will give you the skills and knowledge you need to progress into the beauty industry. The course also covers aspects of anatomy and physiology and retail as well as a full range of advanced treatments

You will learn a range of advanced treatments widely used in spas and salons which will vastly increase your employability in industry

The treatments we cover –
• Electrical facial treatments
• Electrical body treatments
• Body massage to include, traditional, hands free and using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
• Dry spa treatments
• Electrical epilation

Kit and Uniform - You will need to purchase a kit and uniform before the start of the programme, the Level 3 mandatory kit and uniform will cost around £250 subject to change slightly with inflation. There is also up to £100 of optional extra’s and further details will be given to you at the Welcome Event.

Work placement in the commercial environment is part of your course, which helps you to develop real life working skills and employability.

On this Level 3 programme you will also be required to take part in our Industry Placement Programme, which is set for 2 days in addition to your study programme from October until the end of June, totalling 315 hours.  All students are assigned an Industry Placement Coordinator who will work with you and support you through your placement journey.  All placements are unpaid and should be meaningful placements that are relevant to the students study programme  

Progression

The Level 3 qualification will lead into industry employment and opens up a wide range of opportunities to further advance your skills and specialise in advanced areas such as aesthetics or sports massage. Many students will also add to their skills set and continue to study on short courses such as lash extensions, nail extensions or other massage techniques such as stone or lava shell Other career opportunities include: product developer, product or treatment rep, trainer and assessor, cruise ship or airline therapist. There are so many options open to you.

Entry Requirements

Entry will depend on completion of a level 2 qualification in beauty and a successful progression interview for internal candidates. External candidates will be interviewed at one of our scheduled Welcome Events. A grade 3 is science is also preferable, though not essential. Individuals will be considered on their suitability, references showing good attendance and behaviour and a genuine interest in the industry. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Once we have received your application, you will be invited to attend a Welcome Event. At the Welcome Event you will meet the tutors and get the chance to learn more about college and your course. You will also have a discussion with one of our tutors who will look to make you a formal offer for September.
