This Level 1 Award in Computerised Payroll for Business is a is an excellent starting point if you are new to payroll or would like to progress in your career or learn the payroll system for your own business. Learn from the most up to date and premium version of Sage Payroll software in your own time and at your own speed. Throughout this qualification you will gain knowledge of payroll processing, tax codes, National Insurance contributions and their calculations.

The course starts on the 1st of every month.

What will I learn?
This short course, studied over 10 weeks, will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to:
- Employment Legislation including Maternity and Paternity Pay,
- Data Protection, Security and Confidentiality,
- An Introduction to Real Time Information (RTI),
- Preparing Employee Records,
- Calculating of Gross Pay,
- An overview of Processing the Payroll – Income tax and National Insurance,
- HMRC PAYE and NIC Calculators,
- An overview of Voluntary Deductions,
- Leavers,
- And overview of completing the Processing of the Payroll,
- Preparing to Pay Employees.

You will also develop business communications and lifelong learning skills, applying what you learn on the course to the wider industry context.

Study Method – Online
you benefit from regular contact with a college tutor – without having to commit to attending classes. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Regular discussion with your tutor will help to reinforce key points while also providing the additional support and motivation that comes from being part of the college.

Progression

Students completing this qualification may wish to pursue careers in Payroll or finance in either the private or public sectors.
Learner may progress to Level two Certificate in Computerised Payroll for Business, or directly to employment as a trainee Payroll clerk.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements, however strong literacy and numeracy skills are required.
