This course is on Monday from 10 am till 4 pm.
The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) was established in 1980 and is sponsored by the four main accounting bodies. It seeks to meet the educational and training needs of a wide range of trainees including those employed in accounting in a variety of organisations and those aspiring to change their occupation. This course is designed for employees who have a strong level of numeracy and literacy skills.
This course is divided into 4 units:
• Business Awareness
• Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
• Management Accounting Techniques
• Tax Processes for Business All students will be required to become student members and register with the AAT as such.
All students will be given a reading list and book guide to purchasing the course textbooks as these are not included in the course fees. Learners work towards achieving an Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship at Level 3 and will gain knowledge and skills that could lead to employment as:
• an Account Assistant
• an Account Payable and Expenses Supervisor
• an Assistant Accountant
• an Audit Trainee
• a Credit Controller
• a Finance Assistant
• a Finance Officer
• a Payroll Supervisor
• a Senior Bookkeeper
• a Tax Assistant
Registration Fees: Registration to become a member of the AAT is mandatory for all students and costs a one-off registration fee of £225. The employer or the learner can pay the membership fee but must be done directly to the AAT. The registration fee with the AAT will be for the duration of the level 3 qualification.
Books: All students are required to purchase books to support their studies. Our chosen publisher is BPP. You will be provided with a 40% discount code at the start of the course by your tutor.
On successful completion of this course, you can progress to the AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma.
The skills and knowledge you will gain throughout this qualification will qualify you for roles including Finance Officer, Assistant Accountant and Bookkeeper. You will also be eligible for AAT Bookkeeper (AATQB) status, giving you the option to work as a freelance bookkeeper.
You must have a sound knowledge of bookkeeping principles to undertake the AAT Level 3 programme. Achievement of an AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting is advantageous but not essential.
This course is assessed through computer-based exams and a synoptic assessment, which draws on and assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification.
This Level 3 course is part of the National Skills Fund initiative and is fully funded for eligible learners. Alternatively, you can apply for an advanced learner loan to cover the cost of studying this course. Please ask a member of the college staff for more information.
