This standard is suitable for those that have a responsibility for managing community or residential based services
This standard will enable learners to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours so they can guide and inspire teams to make positive differences to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, psychological or intellectual challenges. They will be a leader of the care team and will develop and implement a values-based culture at a service or unit level. They may be responsible for business development, financial control, organisational resilience and continuity as well as for managing risk and leading on organisational change.  
This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to manage practice and lead others in health and social care and children and young people’s services. It has two pathways for those working with children and young people, and covers a wide range of topics including:

• Safeguarding and protection
• Managing care services
• Supporting development and partnership working
• Contributing to broader activities such as change programmes and recruitment
• Complying with quality systems and continuously improving quality
• Developing and carrying out policy
• Promoting and developing best practice
• Care management.

About the Course

This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage and lead others in adult care service.

The qualification is formed of mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units cover core competencies whilst the optional units allow learners to choose from a variety of areas to tailor the qualification to their needs, interests and to reflect the context of their work.

It covers a wide range of topics including:
• Leadership and management
• Governance and regulatory processes
• Quality assurance
• Safeguarding, protection and risk
• Communication, relationships and partnership working
• Person-centred practice for positive outcomes
• Decision-making skills
• Entrepreneurial skills and innovation
• The management of specific services

Progression

On successful completion of this course you may be able progress to a degree in a related discipline.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be in a job role of Deputy or Manager in an appropriate setting, or have the opportunity to carry out responsibilities associated with these roles.

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

All units within the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management will be assessed in the workplace using a variety of assessment methods by a qualified workplace assessor.
