About the Course

You could qualify for full funding, meaning the course will be free to you, if this will be your first full work-focused qualification at level 3, and if you are 24 or above.  If you are aged 19-23 you may be eligible for funding through the adult education budget and if this is not your first full level 3 qualification, you may be able to apply for an Adult Learner Loan. Courses will run subject to viable enrolment numbers.

This qualification provides in-depth information about the role of the Level 3 playworker when working with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16. It provides an understanding of the management of play environments and the line management of other staff. The Diploma covers the knowledge and skills needed when working unsupervised.

Progression

Learners can progress to the Foundation Degree in Early Years, Playwork and Education.

Learners can progress into various job roles such as:

• Playwork Development Officer
• Adventure Centre Supervisor
• Hospital Playworker
• Manager of any Playwork Provisions

Entry Requirements

You should be at least 18 years old.
For the Diploma you will need to be working in a playworker role as you need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

Assessment

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at Cambridge Regional College. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.
You will be assessed by a vocationally competent assessor who will support and help you gather a portfolio of evidence, using a range of methods.

This programme is delivered online monthly on Tuesdays to support the underpinning knowledge of the qualification but attendance is not a requirement. All resources will be available on our virtual learning environment (VLE) system and we use an electronic portfolio system called Smart Assessor.
