This qualification is for those who are working or looking to gain entry in the role of assessment. Applicants are able to undertake a mix of units, dependent upon their circumstances in both accredited learning and non-accredited learning, not just NVQs.
The qualifications are a mix of units designed to provide the knowledge and assessment opportunities to achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
• Award in understanding the principles and practices of assessment
• Award in assessing competence in the work environment
• Award in assessing vocationally related achievement
• Certificate in assessing vocational achievement
Participants will need to discuss their current circumstances in order to get the correct mix of units for them, starting with the knowledge award only. This initial meeting will be part of a pre assessment workshop where the training course will be individually tailored to that participant as designed by your personal mentor.
You will be assessing competence using a variety of assessment methods suitable to where you assess, therefore you are strongly advised to familiarise yourself with assessment criteria that you are going to be making judgements on as well as setting aside time to work on your own award.
This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to assess learners in various situations using appropriate assessment methods.
You need not have any prior qualifications to undertake the award in Understanding the principles and Practices of Assessment. However, to progress to the other units, you will require either vocational qualifications or suitable length of experience in the subject matter you will be assessing.
The planning and reviews will be undertaken on a one to one basis. The knowledge unit will be obtained either by written statements or recorded discussions assessed to level 3 qualification capacity. Subsequent units will require you to be assessed working as a trainee assessor either in the candidates work place or in a training environment.
