The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Policing will provide students with the generic knowledge, understanding and skills to enter employment within Policing, the wider public service sector or progressing onto BTEC Pearson Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Policing.
Studying for this course will provide opportunities for students to learn a range of techniques and tools essential for successful performance in working life. It will help individuals to apply these skills at their workplace and build upon the knowledge they must have gained at the completion of the course. Those already employed will be able to use these attributes immediately at their work place and improve their working practices.
This course is made up of the following units:
Unit 1: Small Scale Research Project in Policing
Unit 2: Criminal Law
Unit 3: Police and the Criminal Justice Service
Unit 4: Equality and Diversity in the Police Service
Unit 5: Roads Policing
Unit 6: Technology and the Police Services
Unit 7: Criminology – Practical Application for the Police Service
Unit 8: Command and Control
For Home and EU students, a loan from the Student Loans Company is available to support learners with fees if applied for. These fees cover the overall costs of the course, including sports kits, guest speakers, day trips and additional courses that will be run throughout the year.
The Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNC in Policing will provide students with the generic knowledge, understanding and skills to enter employment within Policing. or progression onto the Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Policing.

Each project, activity or assignment that you complete will be assessed. These assessments indicate your level of performance and contribute to your final grade. Each unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. Assessment will be through practical and theoretical assignments.

2) Apply through UCAS
When you have found your chosen course on the UCAS website, you can apply directly from UCAS. You will need to have created a UCAS account if you do not have one already to apply.
3) Editable HE application form
If you are unable to use the above ways to apply, you can also apply by filling in our downloadable HE Application form. This can be downloaded by visiting this page.
