About the Programme

Building Services Engineering makes buildings work.  It is a specialist branch of engineering within the construction sector. Craftspersons undertake the installation, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and decommissioning of large-scale engineering systems which are used for heating workplaces such as those found in industrial and commercial buildings like office blocks, factories, schools and hospitals. These engineering systems operate by moving temperature-controlled water around the inside of buildings, providing heating and cooling, and utilise fossil fuels and sustainable energy systems.

This programme is for those who are currently working or looking to work in the Heating and Ventilation industry and who wish to study for a qualification that is recognised by the construction industry. The course covers the knowledge and skills required to achieve a career in installing building services and associate skills.

This role involves carrying out installations, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and decommissioning of large-scale engineering systems which are used for heating workplaces such as industrial and commercial building, i.e. office blocks, schools and hospitals.
