About the Programme

This programme is for those who are currently working or looking to progress in the construction industry and wish to study for a qualification that is recognised by the industry. The course covers the knowledge and skills relating to bricklaying and allied skills.



This role involves laying bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures.



The Bricklaying at Level 2 has been developed based on learner and employer needs and has been designed by employers for learners wishing to gain an in construction.

Progression

The Bricklayer is designed to provide you with the required skills to undertake the role. Once you have completed this programme you may have the opportunity to progress onto further development or take on additional responsibilities with your Employer.

Entry Requirements

English and maths GCSEs at a minimum of grade 3 (D) or equivalent.

Remember, an apprenticeship is a job so the hiring employer may have additional criteria that will have to be met alongside CRC’s

End Point Assessment

End-Point Assessment (EPA) is made up of a number of assessment elements which an Apprentice must pass in order to successfully complete their Apprenticeship. The EPA may include:

• Knowledge assessment
• Practical test
• Interview/questioning
• Observation
• Professional Discussion

As with all our programmes, this Apprenticeship includes tutorial sessions and individual reviews, giving you one-to-one time with your personal assessor.

You can do this through undertaking a job search and applying and interviewing for available roles. Students who currently attend a Cambridge Area Partnership schools should register their interest through the CAP application system, MyChoice@16.

Securing an apprenticeship position can be challenging, therefore we advise all aspiring apprentices, who are leaving school, to apply for a full-time course in the same subject. Having a Plan B ensures you can continue with your education in September and build the practical knowledge and confidence you need to progress onto an apprenticeship when one becomes available.
