Course Overview

The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Technical Certificate/Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged up to 7 years.  Upon achievement of this qualification learners will be able to enter the workforce with the professional title of Early Years Educator or access Higher Education with  72-168 UCAS points .

Units of study include:

• Child Development from conception to 7 years
• Children's health and well-being
• Safe environments for children
• Play and learning for school readiness
• Understanding children's additional needs
• Observation assessment and planning
• Legislation, frameworks and professional practice

This programme includes experience within a real work environment which is an integral part of the course and takes place in an Early Years setting for a minimum of 2 days per week.



There will be cost to students of £150 for security checks, (DBS) and course materials , 19+ fees will apply.

Once at the College you will have to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check.  It is not possible to complete the course without satisfactory clearance. It is also a requirement that students on this course are independent workers within the placement settings.

Progression & Career Opportunities

Employment as a professional Early Years Educator, classroom learning support assistant, nanny, child-minder, or playworker, or progress to Higher Education studying subject areas such as Early Year teaching and social work, or a Degree of your choice.  You can also consider joining our Part-Time Foundation Degree in Early Years Playwork and Education.

Entry Requirements

You will need 4 GCESs at grade 9-4 (A*-C) or above, including English or Maths

OR

Successful completion of a full Level 2 in Early Years , or Health & Social Care and GCSE English or Maths at grade 9-4.

In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

Learning Assessment & Support

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

The NCFE CACHE qualification has internally assessed units marked by your tutor and externally assessed controlled assessments marked by the awarding organisation.
Internal units are assessed using a range of methods including: written assignments, tasks such as designing a leaflet, booklet or poster. Evidence of practical skills will be assessed in your work experience placement and you are required to reflect on your performance. This qualification is graded A* - D and you must obtain a minimum D grade to achieve.
