Change It Yourself
This is 8 week programme which is of a practical nature and covers a range of DIY/home improvement skills and is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. The course consists of Health and Safety in the home and workshop. Familiarisation of the tools, workshop and tool card. How to hang a new door, re-hang a problem door or change lock fittings. Different ways to construct in wood including sample joints such as mortice and tenon/half laps, the principles of other carpentry joints and methods. Kitchens and bathrooms - Practise ceramic tiling including cutting, grouting and drilling tiles. Windows - try glazing, which will include cutting and bedding into a window frame with putty. Building in brick, finding principles, laying out and try levelling a wall. Preparing surfaces for decoration practice, plaster repair, coving. The last sessions are used to construct an item to take home. An additional cost for materials maybe required for these sessions. further help and skills practice can also be done here.

There are no formal entry requirements. This course is workshop based so you will need Steel toe cap Boots,, overalls are advisable
