Course Overview

This 2 day course incorporates:

OFT10-101 - Single Stage Pressure Jet Servicing and Commissioning
This course is for technicians who wish to service and commission pressure-jet appliances.  The vast majority of household boilers fall into this category.  The course covers a variety of areas including Health and Safety, fire valve installation, regional legislation and requirements, safe electrical isolation, knowledge of oil storage and supply, knowledge of appliance installation, knowledge of heating systems and practical servicing and commissioning.

OFT10-105E - Install, test and commission Domestic Oil Assessment
This course is for technicians who wish to install oil-fired appliances such as boilers and AGAs.  Areas covered by this course include Health and Safety, fire valve installation, regional legislation and requirements, safe electrical isolation, knowledge of oil storage and supply, appliance installation, heating systems and energy efficiency.

OFT10-600a - Oil Tank Installation
This course is for technicians who wish to install oil tanks and associated pipe work and equipment.  Areas covered by this course include Health and Safety, fire valve installation, regional legislation and requirements, safe electrical isolation and oil storage and supply.

The course duration will vary depending on prior experience (2 days)

OFTEC and NICEIC Certification Fees apply.
Technical books, which are mandatory for assessment, can be supplied at an additional cost if required

Please note – Training is not a pre-requisite to assessment.

Progression & Career Opportunities

Entry Requirements

This course is for new and experienced technicians

Candidates will fall into one of three categories
Category 1 - an experienced OFTEC technician
Category 2 - candidates with relevant plumbing, heating and gas experience may have the necessary skills and understanding to appreciate the concepts and principals involved in the oil industry.
Category 3 - new entrants entering the industry with no prior experience or skills must either
• Demonstrate competence through an apprenticeship NVQ/SVQ
• Seek other appropriate training giving a similar level of manual skills, knowledge and understanding, such as 3 years hands on experience within a related building services sector.

Certain criteria should be met for those entering this qualification and acceptance on the course will be at the discretion of the centre, please contact the Energy Systems Centre for further information.

Training is not a pre-requisite for but will be provided where necessary

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs.

Candidates will undertake practical assessment and multiple choice theory papers.

Assessments are by appointment and can be booked to suit your requirements.
