Great Careers in Construction

The Construction sector offers many exciting careers.

Construction builds the world we live in and provides a fantastic career with great benefits and progression routes.

Construction accounts for 2.6 million jobs in the UK with 224,000 new jobs planned over the next five years. Careers range from architecture and civil and structural engineering to building services, engineering construction and surveying. It doesn’t matter if your skills are in mathematics or if you prefer being outdoors – there is a career to match any skill set.

Generally jobs are well paid with good benefits, the opportunity to travel worldwide and progression routes that can take you from an apprentice to the managing director of a large international company.

Work experience with local and national builders is a key part of our courses at CRC. We have great links with local and national employers, such as Worcester Bosch and Ridgeons, and guest speakers from large organisations give talks to students about career routes and opportunities.  Many students go on to train as apprentices in the building industry.

People who work in construction often say that variety is one of the major things they enjoy about their job – no two days are the same.

“Studying at CRC helped me gain qualifications to become an electrician.   I have now set up my own company and have managed to build a great reputation throughout Cambridge”

Alistair Ryan, Business Owner

“The biggest advantage for me is that what I learn on the course reflects what I need to know on site as a quantity surveyor”
