Greats Careers in Computing

Cambridge’s reputation in technology is internationally renowned – it is home to some of the world’s leading high-tech companies, providing great job opportunities for skilled technicians.

Businesses report huge demand for skilled IT practitioners, with the IT sector outstripping the rest of the economy threefold when it comes to job creation – it’s a great time to get into the industry! Our programmes will give you an excellent grounding in the rapidly changing computing industry, and, with our excellent links with local businesses, often lead straight into a job or an Apprenticeship.

Desktop or network support engineers need to develop logical, troubleshooting skills as well as having a good knowledge of computer and networking systems. Underpinning these very specific skills, abilities and knowledge, you will need a raft of ‘soft skills’ – communication, organisation and team working abilities – plus a ‘can do attitude’ to progress in the IT industry.

If you dream of becoming a web designer, we will equip you with the right skills – with web authoring tools such as Dreamweaver and HTML as well as expertise in project management so you can deliver what your client really wants.
