Our Explore programmes are designed to put you on the first step of the career ladder, choosing a programme that fits with your career goals to provide you with the core skills to progress.

Who is the course for?

The explore programme is aimed at jobseekers aged 19+ to develop the skills they need to find, stay and progress into work.

What does the course include?

The Explore Programme takes place over a 3 week period. It is made up of pre-enrolment careers information, advice and guidance (CIAG), a pre-employment training programme.

  • Start time 9am until 4:30 Monday to Friday
  • 3 weeks classroom based (3 qualification)
  • L1 Business admin– C&G
  • L1 Customer service – C&G
  • Employability- Including CV, Coverings, Appling for Jobs, Applications, presentation skills, Interview skills, Confidence building & building self- esteem.
  • L1 Personal Social Development- C&G
  • Maths & English:- ensuring all learners are up to date and are competent to carry out assessment

What’s covered in the course?

  • Business admin, customer service & personal development 
  • Maintain customer relations
  • Dealing with customer queries, requests and problems
  • Understand how to use and maintain office equipment safely
  • Basic office management
  • Know how to make and receive telephone calls
  • Know how to store and retrieve information

EDGE EXPLORE CONSTRUCTION

Who is the course for?

The explore programme is aimed at jobseekers and career changes who are wanting to develop the skills they need to find, stay and progress into work.

What does the course include?

  • Start time 9am until 4:30 Monday to Friday
  • 3 weeks classroom based
  • Certificate in Basic Construction Skills
  • NCFE Award in Health and Safety Awareness (QCF)
  • NCFE Level1 Aware in Health and Safety in construction Environment
  • Skills for Working in the Construction Industry

What’s covered in the course?

  • Introduction to skills required to work in the construction industry
  • Expand existing skills and knowledge
  • Increased employment potential
  • Access to live construction sites
  • Green CSCS card
  • Site ready, with some basic construction skills
  • Ready to apply for a job in the construction sector
  • Health & Safety in a construction environment
  • Preparation for work and employability skills
  • Basic plumbing and electrical essential skills
  • Rights and responsibilities in the workplace
  • Teamwork
  • Personal development including searching for and applying for work

Explore Youth Work

An introductory course for anyone who is interested in working with young people. This 3 day course enables students to get a taster into running youth group sessions and everything you need to know about planning and delivering activities. This course runs from 09:30am till 15:00pm each day.

Explore Accounting & Business (AAT)

A standalone Level 2 unit using Sage software where students build up a portfolio of evidence through using the software. Learn all the basics from setting up a company to month end routines. This course runs on a flexible 1 day a week basis, 09:30am to 16:30pm. As a flexible programme you can choose to do hours that fit into a school day. For example, you can attend college from 10:00am to 14:00pm to allow for a school pick up.
