Outstanding Endeavour award for Access student
Wanangwa Kyumba, Studying Social Work at the University of Hertfordshire
Winner of CRC Outstanding Endeavour Award 2017
Wanangwa Kyumba studied Access to Social Work at CRC, winning an Outstanding Endeavour award for her commitment and achievement. She managed to balance her studies with looking after her two young children, focusing on achieving her dream of going to university.
“I wanted to go to uni but I didn’t know how to get there until I heard about the Access course. It was hard work but worth it and I felt great when I got a place at uni. The course helped me achieve my goals and opened the door for me.
“The Access course was very good, a real eye-opener. It gave me the confidence to face whatever was put in front of me and the skills I needed for uni, like writing skills. With the skills from the course I could handle the interview.
“I’m studying for a degree in Social Work at the University of Hertfordshire and I am planning to be a social worker and specialise in mental health. I want other students to know that you can do it – the tutors are there to help you.”
