We are delighted to be part of the Kickstart placement scheme and have a number of 6-month paid opportunities available for young people aged 16-24 on Universal Credit.
What is Kickstart Scheme?
The Kickstart Scheme is a £2bn Government funded employment initiative that helps create new, fully subsidised job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. The funding is intended to help support and train young people and assist them getting into the job market. This can include training, the opportunity to try new tasks and build new skills, or helping to improve their existing skills.
The scheme offers six-month placements across a range of sectors. Employers will receive funding to pay the national minimum wage for 25 hours a week, plus associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum auto-enrolment pension contributions.
The scheme is scheduled to run until December 2021 so all placements must have started by this date.
Who is eligible?
Jobs from the Kickstart Scheme are open to 16-24 year olds, who are claiming Universal Credit, and are at risk of long term unemployment. If you have a work coach they will talk to you about the Kickstart Scheme and whether it’s right for you. If it is something that they feel is suitable, you will be given a unique referral code.
