Studying a Higher National Diploma is an alternative to going to university, but can still lead to gaining a full degree. Our specialist well-respected range of Higher Education courses are vocationally-led to prepare students for employment and sensitively time-tabled to include adults who may still need to work part-time.
How it works?
Study a Higher National Certificate (HNC), then a Higher National Diploma (HND) each course takes 1 year to complete. Then continue to a Top-Up Degree at university (entering at year 3) to finish your studies.

With an Access to HE Diploma, you could earn a maximum of 144 UCAS points – which is the same as getting 3 As at A level. These courses last 1 year which prepare you to study at univeristy, but these courses are very intense, so a strong willingness to learn is vital. Access HE Diplomas are accepted at a lot of universities around the country, and many students who study an Access to HE Diploma at CRC, go onto to complete a degree at university.
Why Study an Access to HE Diploma at CRC?
CRC offer a wide range of different Access to HE Diplomas, which can lead you to study a wide range of undergraduate degrees at university.
If you are studying a Higher National Certificates, Higher National Diplomas or Foundation Degree you may be eligible for the Higher Education Bursary. This bursary may be able to support you with Childcare costs, Essential Kit or Book costs and Transport/Travel costs.

Higher Education Tuition Fee Loan
You can apply to Student Finance England for a Tuition Fee Loan. You can do this even if you have not had your place on the course confirmed. You can apply online directly with Student Finance England here.

For information, advice and guidence, our Advice Cafe is open on reuslts day for anyone needing help with their reuslts and what to do next. Our Advice Cafes are able to help students & prospective students looking to enrol on a course or change courses. They can also guide with changing career direction particularly following results day. Come along to our Cambridge Campus between 9:30 am- 4:00 pm to speak to the team.
