International students come together at The Houses of Parliament

Earlier this year, the Association of Colleges extended an invitation to Cambridge Regional College for international students to attend afternoon tea at the Houses of Parliament.

The event, organised by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Students, was opened up to college students for the first time, enabling younger learners to experience education policy and social change first hand in one of the world’s most iconic cities.

On 25th February, International Access to HE Business student, Jingting Li made the journey to Westminster, London, with her marketing and business lecturer, for a fantastic day of first experiences including the London underground, airport-style security checks and entering ‘The Strangers’ dining room in Westminster Palace.

After registration, Jingting had the opportunity to network with guests including embassy representatives, non-government organisations, parliamentarians and international students studying in different parts of the UK on a range of higher education programmes such as law, engineering, business and science in the university cities of Liverpool, Sheffield, Warwick and East London. This provided an amazing opportunity for Jingting to meet and speak with many international learners and share their experiences
