SEND students join in the dance
A local dance teacher has volunteered his services to give dance lessons to Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) students at our Huntingdon Campus.
Chris Jones (CJ) is the owner of DanceXcess, a local dance studio offering Class nights, Freestyles, Workshops, Tea Dances and social nights out to the local community. He gave up his own time to teach and support the students earlier this week, and his modern jive dance lesson went down a storm, with both students and teachers joining in.
The dance lesson formed part of the students’ enrichment activity, promoting social interaction, which is very important for them.
Liz Oliver, Study Programme Leader, Supported Learning at the Huntingdon Campus, reflected on the success of the day. “Everyone had a wonderful time and the students have asked if they can do it all over again. CJ was so impressed with their enthusiasm he has kindly offered to come in for another session later this year. And the staff enjoyed the experience so much they are planning to go to DanceXcess classes on a Monday night in St Ives Corn Exchange.”
The SEND Support Department at CRC work with full and part-time students of all ages, covering a wide range of specialist areas to ensure that they achieve their potential and enjoy their studies.
