Employers showcase the best of their recruitment opportunities at Cambridge Regional College Apprenticeship Jobs Fair
In the spirit of National Apprenticeship Week 2018, Cambridge Regional College held two apprenticeship job fairs attracting local, regional and national employers looking to attract the next generation of apprenticeship talent.
Enticing a wide range of attendees including parents, students and schools, the college held two separate apprenticeship jobs fairs. Tuesday 6 March saw the first jobs fair, held at CRC’s Huntingdon Campus. Wednesday 7 March played host to the Cambridge Campus jobs fair.
Cambridge Campus Apprenticeship Jobs Fair
The college welcomed 100s of visitors over the course of the two days, making it one of the most well-attended apprenticeship jobs fairs organised by the college.
On the lookout for apprenticeship talent, were employers from a range of industry sectors and included Johnson Matthey, The A14 Integrated Delivery Team, Cambridge University Hospitals, Reliable Contractors Ltd and The Wendy House Day Nurseries.
Among the exhibiting employers was Munro Building Services Ltd who complimented the value of attendance at the jobs fair and the received numerous applications for their apprenticeship programme starting later this year.
Sally Bedwell, Business Development Manager at Munro said “As a local employer of apprentices, Cambridge Regional Colleges Apprenticeship Fair gave us the opportunity to proactively engage with students and potential candidates for our 2018/19 apprenticeship programme. It was hugely beneficial for us and a great opportunity to break down some of the perceived barriers to entry and provided us a platform to inspire young people into a career in Building Services Engineering”.
“Apprenticeship recruitment has been a key part of our business for more than 20 years. The very technical nature of Building Services Engineering means that certain skills and competencies are required as a gateway to a successful apprenticeship programme for both us as an employer and the trainee. Having access to quality candidates who are currently on entry level courses in Heating & Ventilation at this week’s fair has cemented that for us and we have had a considerable number of good quality students looking to apply. We look forward to receiving applications by Monday 16th April 2018”.
Against the backdrop of skills shortages, apprenticeship jobs fairs are an excellent opportunity for potential apprentices to engage with recruiting employers. CPS Building Services have been attending CRC’s jobs fairs for many years and use these events as an opportunity to recruit for the CPS Apprenticeship Scheme.

While the wider industry continues to suffer from a severe skills shortage, we have invested heavily in apprentices in partnership with Cambridge Regional College”.
“The CPS apprenticeship scheme has a track record in nurturing and promoting talented new people, with a carefully tailored programme and dedicated mentors to support trainees as they learn from both CPS & Cambridge Regional College. We believe this focus is bearing great fruit within the business. Since 2012, CPS has employed 30 apprentices: two thirds of them are still with us, and two have gone on to senior management. We look forward to developing our partnership with Cambridge Regional College for years to come”.
