Help with Childcare Costs

Learners aged 19 or under on 1 September 2017 who have a child that needs childcare while they attend college can receive assistance through Care to Learn.  This covers childcare costs up to £160 per week per child.

The childcare provider must be Ofsted registered.  For more information and eligibility criteria, or to apply online, visit  www.gov.uk/care-to-learn or ring the Student Support Helpline on 0300 303 8610.  You can also contact the college on 01223 418443 or call into the Financial Support office to discuss.  The online application form needs to be completed by yourself and your childcare provider. You then bring the child’s full birth certificate, to the Finance office for completion by the Learning Provider.  This assistance is based on satisfactory attendance.

Learners aged 20 or over on 1 September 2017 from a low income household (under £25,000 per annum), can apply for a contribution towards their term time only childcare costs.  Funding is available through the college 19+ Discretionary Bursary.  The contribution is for the days the learner is timetabled to be in college (a maximum of £160 per week per child) and the provider must be Ofsted registered.  The fund will not cover any registration fees, food, pick-ups or childcare costs over college holidays  (eg. half term, Easter, Christmas, Summer holiday).
