English & Maths
We recognise that good Maths and English are vital assets in today’s job market, as well as in everyday life.
English and Maths Skills for Full-Time Students
English and Maths skills are an essential part of the modern professional’s toolkit. Employers consistently place English and Maths high on the list of skills they look for in potential employees. Universities often report that ability in English and Maths supports success in other subjects. Because our aim is to give you the best preparation for your chosen career, English and Maths will be essential elements of your programme at CRC.
“I’ve just picked up my results for my GCSE English and I’ve passed! I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your hard work.”
As a full-time student at college, you will develop your English and maths skills through your personalised learning plan. The development of these practical skills will be an essential part of your programme. In addition, if you have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade A* to C or 9 to 4 in English and/or Maths, you will study for a recognised qualification appropriate to your level. If you have already achieved A* to C or 9 to 4, you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills through your specialist subject.
Last year, we became one of the first colleges in the country to offer the new Level 3 Core Maths qualification, designed for students who have already achieved A* to C or 9 to 4 in Mathematics but want to continue to build on their Maths skills. The two-year course will result in an AS-equivalent qualification and carry UCAS points. Students will learn about personal finance, estimation, statistics and much more. For more information, contact Maths lecturer Lily Tang on email@example.com. To find out more about the qualification, visit the Core maths website http://www.core-maths.org/.
Have you suddenly realised that English and Maths are a critical requirement and basic skill, not only in life but also for your career as well? The good news is, Cambridge Regional College appreciates this and is pleased to be able to offer courses designed specifically for adult learners.
“I just want to say how grateful I am for all the help and encouragement you have given me towards my GCSE exams. They are something that I have been meaning to do for about 30 years and you have given me the confidence to do this.”
Many of our students have discovered that to progress to the next stage of their career, perhaps change career or even assist their family with homework, functional English and Maths skills are important and crucial in our everyday lives.
