Russ Power

Lecturer

Russ served as a Regular Soldier for 26 years prior to becoming a qualified teacher. During his career, Russ served operationally in numerous overseas locations including Afghanistan, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Northern Ireland, Macedonia, Cyprus, Rwanda and Belize. He also spent time in many other countries including Brunei, Poland and the United States to name a few.

Russ’s specialist area was as a Military Parachutist and during his career he progressed through the ranks to become a Warrant Officer Class 1, the highest rank achievable when enlisting as a Soldier. This provided him with a huge amount of qualifications and vocational experience relevant to his current specialist teaching area.

Since leaving the Army in early 2011 he has worked at Cambridge Regional College as a lecturer and is also an instructor at Cambridge University Officer Training Corps which maintains his vocationally current. He is also an Adult Volunteer with Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Force and helps run the CRC Cadet Detachment.
Russ specialises in teaching Public Services but also holds a number of Sport and Fitness related qualifications which makes him a capable Sports Studies lecturer. He has experience of teaching at all levels including Level 4 as well as being a successful personal tutor numerous tutorial groups.

Russ is also a keen Cyclist and has taken part in a number of long distance events both with and outside Cambridge Regional College and has helped raise money for a number of Public Service related charities.
